Technical Tours

Technical Tours will be a critical part of the IWA Glasgow Congress, giving delegates the opportunity to enjoy a more comprehensive and hands-on experience. These tours will showcase the very best of what Glasgow and Scotland has to offer in terms of water and wastewater innovation, promoting the power of visionary thinking, technical excellence, and high quality collaboration.

Glasgow Smart Canal

Glasgow's Smart Canal is pioneering Blue-Green Infrastructure which predicts heavy rainfall, lowers canal levels, and creates space for 55,000m³ of floodwater. By diverting excess water from the Clyde to the River Kelvin, it protects homes and businesses while showcasing world-class urban climate adaptation.

Opened in 2012, this architectural icon boasts the country’s largest grass roof blending innovation with sustainability. Using cutting-edge CoCoDAFF technology, it combines two treatment processes into one, saving space and cost. Just 20 minutes away is Scottish Water’s largest sampling lab, Juniper House.
